Members and memberships

Whether a membership is active is worked out from the dates every time it is read, never stored — so it is never wrong the morning after it expired. A lapsed member is still let in and flagged, because attendance data you can trust is worth more than a locked turnstile.

Staff, shifts and roles

Give the desk exactly the access it needs and nothing more. Re-hiring somebody reuses their record rather than creating a second one, so “who works here now” is never ambiguous.

Your members’ training is not yours to see

This is a hard boundary in the product, not a setting. Gym staff can see memberships and check-ins and cannot see a single set any member has lifted — in your gym or anywhere else. It is enforced in the code and there is a test that fails the build if anyone tries to cross it.
